Unfolding ancient craft villages outside Hanoi

Less than one hour from Hanoi are over 500 specialist craft villages, producing an array of religious or artistic objects, as well as food products, industrial goods, textiles, basket ware and much more. Craftsmen from these villages began to establish workshops in the Old Quarter of Hanoi since it was declared the capital by Emperor Ly Thai To in 1010. Today, each street in the Old Quarter is still known for a specific craft and linked to the village where it is originated.
